Summer in South Italy


Join host Christian Galliani for a tour that highlights food, wine, history and relaxation in the cooler, quiet corners of South Italy.

Summer in Italy is hot, but this tour has been designed to maximize your experience of food, wine and history without having to trudge the heat of the day in overcrowded destinations.

The tour begins in the cool, lush mountains just east of Naples called Irpinia. Sometimes called the Amalfi Coast’s wine country, Irpinia is home to many of Italy’s most prestigious winemakers, excellent salumi and black truffles. Because of the elevation, Irpinia is much cooler than other locations in South Italy.

The second half of the tour is in Cilento, at our family’s agriturismo overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea. Here we’ll see the ancient temples of Paestum at dusk, relax on the pristine beaches of the Cilento coast and have lunch on a farm to taste the local vegetables at the height of their freshness and flavor.

Christian was on the wine team at Del Posto, the lead sommelier at Tarry Lodge and Beverage Manager at Eataly Downtown. While at Tarry Lodge, Christian’s wine list won the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence.

Wednesday, July 1

The tour starts at 2pm with a pickup in Naples. We’ll transfer to Radici Resort (about 1.5 hour drive).

In the evening we’ll meet for a tour of the vineyard then enjoy a 5-course testing menu at their restaurant Morabianca.

Thursday, July 2

Take a tour of Feudi Di San Gregorio and have a private lunch inside their cantina, away from the midday sun. In the evening we’ll visit winemaker Salvatore Moletierri at his home, then spend the evening strolling around the small town of Bagnoli, famous for black truffles.

Friday, July 3

Pack your bags for a transfer to Cilento. After you’ve had time to settle in and take a dip in the pool, we’ll visit Paestum for a tour of the 3,000 year old temples at dusk.

Saturday, July 4

Learn to cook from a Baronessa on her buffalo farm followed by a large lunch in her antique-filled dining room.

Sunday, July 5

Sleep in and enjoy a lazy Sunday morning around the pool

For lunch, we’ll visit a local farm for a feast of organic products grown directly on the farm.

In the evening, those who wish to may take the zip line while those who don’t may enjoy a gelato and snacks while watching.

Monday, July 6

Explore the Cilento coast by boat. This pristine coastline is part of The Cilento National Park and has many Bandiera Blu beaches for swimming in clear water.

Tuesday, July 7

Visit the showroom of luxury producer of figs and chocolate tucked away in a medieval village in the mountains of the Cilento National Park. After lunch in their tasting room, we’ll visit the DeConciliis Winery for a tasting and conversation with the winemakers.

Wednesday, July 8

Transfer back to Naples with a quick stop at the Sanctuary of the Madonna of the Pomegranate for one last view of the mountains and sea.


Program Rate

Executive Suite

 $5,100.00 per person, double occupancy. Single supplement is $572.00 

Our largest room, the Executive suite is standalone building with a sea-facing wide terrace with table, chairs and two recliners. The Executive suite offers the most privacy.

Junior Suite

$4,800.00 per person, double occupancy. Single supplement is $474.00

These large rooms also offer a queen bed and a sea view. They are closest to the breakfast dining room and connected in a bay of 7 suites. An extra single bed may be added to the Junior Suite if there are 3 guests sharing one suite.

Superior Suite

 $4,500 per person, double occupancy. Single supplement is $372.00

These rooms have a double bed and a partial sea view from their terraces. There are 4 superior suites situated on the eastern side of the property.

All suites have:

  • En suite bathrooms with luxury showers, organic soaps and shampoos made from local olive oil and flowers, a heated towel rack and a bidet

  • Private terrace overlooking the Tyrrhenian sea with table, chairs and a lounge chair

  • Air conditioning and heating units that can are set by the guests

  • Hairdryer

  • Mini-fridge

  • Flat screen television

  • WiFi

The tour begins with pickup in Naples Train Station at 2pm. Please have lunch and be ready for a 1.5 hour drive to our hotel.

The tour ends on Wednesday after breakfast. Our private coach will bring depart for Naples at 10am for a 2 hour drive to Naples Train Station.

To reserve your spot, please make a $2,000 deposit, $350 of which is non-refundable.
